New input shaft and driven gears kit for the RG 500 transmission
(can be used with the RG 400 too). This kit was developed according to
the request and specifications of Lance Gamma by Maranello Engineering
in Italy.
The main features of this kit are: Billet machined high strength
replacement components for a taller first gear (12:28 instead of stock
11:29) and positive engagement undercut driven 2nd, 3rd and 6th gears.
The first gear ratio is changed by replacing the entire shaft first gear
is machined into. This design maintains proper tooth profile for long
wear and low friction. The new gear ratios produce a noticeable narrowing
of the gap between 1st and
2nd gear. This brings 1st gear into the realm of
useful options in
the tight stuff.
Additional features are: 1) Needle bearing supporting 1st gear; 2) Fully
undercut dogs and slots for the 2nd, 3rd and 6th gears (to ensure
quicker and more positive gear shifting); 3) Latest generation anti-friction,
anti-wear treatment on the 2nd gear hub.
This transmission kit only requires replacing the gears that fail, which saves
lots of money over buying both gear shafts and
all 10 gears.
In over 25 years of professional RG500 motor service, I
have encountered a
broken transmission that did not originate from a
failed 2nd, 3rd or
6th gear (driven) only once, prompting me to request
the development of
this kit for my customers.
The Rg500 Transmission Upgrade Kit is supplied
complete with all you need
for installation including
bushings, washers
and snap rings. What is not included
in the kit is reused
from the
stock unit.
Functionality of the kick starter and the oil pump is
preserved.
